Stephen Colbert Discusses The Transfer Of Presidential Power And The Glass Ceiling Colonoscopy

Tonight on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the host goes over a historic moment in U.S. politics that happened right before Thanksgiving.

“I’m grateful that on Friday history was made because Joe Biden temporarily transferred power to vice president Kamala Harris.”

This transfer of power is due to sitting President Biden going under anesthesia for a routine colonoscopy, leaving Harris as the first woman to assume presidential power.

“Yes, 100 years after women got the right to vote. We finally got the first female president on a technicality,” said Colbert. It’s definitely a technicality but no one can deny the event is part of history. In typical fashion, the host couldn’t let this moment go without inserting comedy.

“Turns out this whole time. The glass ceiling was up Joe Biden’s, butt.”

Handing over presidential powers is not unprecedented, and in Harris’ case, she held powers for 85 minutes. Not very long, but one must wonder how stressful those 85 minutes were. The late night host adds some perspective on this by showing a before and after photo of VP Harris looking normal, and then one of her looking like the crypt keeper.
